There Are Several Important Reasons To Spay Or Neuter Your Dog
Altered dogs are normally healthier and usually live longer
than unaltered dogs. Veterinarians, breeders and animal behaviorists agree, IT IS NOT AT ALL HELPFUL OR FULFILLING FOR THE FEMALE TO HAVE A LITTER. Giving birth is a major event for your dog, and even under the best of circumstances it can lead to serious physical problems or death.
Spaying a female before her first heat season (usually at 6 months of age) greatly reduces the risk of mammary tumors later in life. A spayed female will also not suffer the danger of life-threatening uterine infections as she grows older.
Neutering a male (usually at 5-6 months of age) removes the possibility of testicular cancer. In addition, your pet will have a much lower incidence of developing prostrate problems. Also, a neutered male will generally be more tolerant of other males, and aggressive behavior can often be tempered by neutering.
Both of these procedures can be done safely and reap benefits at any age!
MYTH: My dog will become obese and less playful after they've been altered.
FACT: The basic disposition of your dog will not be changed by spaying or neutering.
Neither of these procedures will turn your pet into a fat and lazy "couch potato!" Obesity is caused by giving too much food, too many snacks and too little exercise.
Be kind to your dog! Spay or neuter!

What About My Cat?
Did you know that ONE male cat and ONE female cat and their offspring can result in 420,000 homeless kittens in just 7 years? The heartbreaking fact is that most of these kittens don't live to see their 1st birthday!
Animal experts agree, you're not doing your cat a favor by allowing them to remain "intact." Unaltered cats are overwhelmed by a desire to 'go forth and multiply,' and will only add to the sad number of unwanted pets who's fate is all too often a HORRIBLE DEATH.
Spaying or neutering your cat not only prevents unwanted births, but also helps improve their quality of life, and yours! They're healthier and more content to stay safe INDOORS. Your female won't whine endlessly at all hours and your male won't "spray" your home instinctively to mark his territory!
Male cats may not have litters, but can impregnate more than a dozen females per year, fighting with others for 'Top Cat' status along the way. This fighting leaves them open to serious injury, absessed wounds and DEADLY Feline Leukemia and FIV (AIDS.)
Be kind to your cat!
Spay or neuter and keep them safe indoors!
Peg & The Furcrew
In Loving Memory of Snoopy
|
|
Snoopy was my little "furniece". She was well-loved and cared for.
She had a terrific home, a warm bed, the best food and plenty of
toys and chewies... Everything a furkid could want, but she wasn't
spayed. Snoopy died suddenly of hemorrhaging due to an acute uterine
infection at the age of three.
Please learn from my family's heartache..... Spay or neuter your pet now!
