Apostle Joan Hicks was educated in the North Babylon School District and graduated in 1970. She also attended Boces, Lewis A. Wilson Technology School where again she graduated in 1970 with her license as a practical nurse. She attended SUNY Morrisville where she acquired further nursing credits. She was employed by the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Northport, New York for 20 years before God called her out for full time ministry in 1991. She met while at the VAMC, the love of her life, the late Elder William F. Hicks. Out of their union 3 children were conceived... Evang. Tricia McLaurin, currently the co-pastor of Greater Works Apostolic Ministries, William D. Hicks, and Jarrod A. Hicks. They were married for 26 years and she thanks her God "Till death do us part." She has 2 daughter-in-laws, Keisha and Taisha, and 1 son-in-law, Jason, and 6 grandchildren. Apostle Hicks is the founder and overseer/apostle of Greater Works Apostolic Ministries established in 1989. She has been in ministry 19 years. She received her religious training at Joshua Baptist Church in Huntington where she served as a Missionary president, president of the Pastor's Aide, past ministerial staff and has also served in many other capacities under the leadership of the late Rev. Robert Hamilton, pastor and biological father. She is currently the overseer of 2 networks of woman in leadership in Suffolk County and the Boroughs. Obeying the call on her life, Apostle Hicks has traveled overseas to minister in leadership conferences, women conferences, and has enlightened God's people with the Mama Dance, Papa Dance, and Children's Dance in Jamaica, West Indies, St. Maarten, Cameroon and Togo, Africa. Apostle Hicks has survived many attacks of the enemy, standing strong through her 2 sons near fatal accident, the passing of her husband and father all in 1 year. Today she lets us know Jesus never fails and her 2 mottos are: "Let's grow up to go up" & "Spiritually natural and Naturally spiritual."
